02 / Who is behind this
Most people in food sit in one chair and argue with the others. Antonio Iannone has sat in all four: the field, the kitchen, the boardroom and the classroom. That is the whole point of TheFoodCons.
The founder
Antonio Iannone is the founder of TheFoodCons, the boutique agrifood-tech platform he started in 2017, and a co-founder of the Agrifood-Tech Italia Association, the network bringing Italy's food innovators, investors and institutions into the same room.
He advises startups, SMEs and corporates on growth, fundraising and M&A. He teaches agrifood-tech innovation at ESCP Business School. He writes, hosts and moderates, turning a sector full of jargon into stories people can actually act on.
His base is Como. His commute is the Alps: Zurich, Lausanne, Fribourg, Basel. Somewhere between Italian food heritage and Swiss deep tech, he found his job description: connecting dots that nobody else was looking at together.
"Food is the only technology every human uses three times a day. It deserves better questions."
The four chairs
Family ties to farming. He knows that every elegant pitch deck ends, sooner or later, in mud, weather and margins.
A food entrepreneur before he was an advisor, including a hospitality venture on Aruba. He has run a pass, not just a spreadsheet.
Advisory on fundraising and M&A, deal sourcing, investment analysis. The part of food innovation where enthusiasm meets due diligence.
Professor of agrifood-tech innovation at ESCP. Teaching the next generation is the fastest way to find out what you really know.
In good company
Startups, investors, networks, universities and media. Different worlds that rarely talk to each other. Our job is to make sure they do.
